Supporting Adoptive Families
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” (Galatians 4:4-6)
We believe that adoption is a responsibility of the local church for several reasons:
- There are children here in Wilson, across North Carolina, and around the world that are vulnerable and in need of a family. We believe what Jesus says in Matthew 25:40, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”
- Adoption clearly demonstrates the gospel. We were once fatherless and orphaned and God took us in his family as his children. This truth should motivate us to demonstrate that kind of love here on earth.
Are you a WCC family in the process of adopting?
Adoption can be an expensive process. We are partnering with the ABBA Fund, an organization that exists to reduce the financial barriers to adoption.
Would you like to financially support WCC families who are adopting?
You can donate online at the ABBA Fund. Under “Choose Your Designation”, select “Family Adoption Fund” and enter the family you would like to support. Or, to give to the general WCC fund at the ABBA Fund, choose “Church Loan Fund” and indicate Wilson Community Church.
(Coming Soon) Our partnership with the ABBA Fund is just beginning. Once our WCC families have set up profiles with the ABBA Fund, you will be able to donate directly to a family through a profile page set up just for them.
